KARACHI: Police have arrested Captain (retd) Safdar, husband of Maryam Nawaz.

police arrested Mohammad Safdar from a private hotel and he was arrested for violating the Mazar-e-Quaid Act by chanting slogans at Mazar-e-Quaid.
Police said that a case has been registered against Captain Safdar in Brigade police station and he has been arrested and kept in Aziz Bhatti police station.

Confirming the arrest of Captain Safdar, the police brigade said that the league leader was arrested in a case of desecration of Mazar-e-Quaid.


Police say the lawsuit filed by Waqas includes 200 people, including death threats, damage to government property and a violation of the Mazar-e-Quaid Act.

Police officials said that the decision to produce Captain (retd) Safdar in court today has not been taken yet and they could not say anything about the place of his transfer.

According to police officials, a decision will be taken to produce Captain Safdar in court only after interrogation.

“Captain Safdar was arrested for breaking the door of his hotel room.”

On the other hand, PML-N vice president Maryam Nawaz said in a statement issued on Twitter that her husband had been arrested for breaking the door of a private hotel room.


Maryam Nawaz shared a tweet from her political secretary Zeeshan Malik.


It may be recalled that Maryam Nawaz had reached Karachi yesterday to attend a PDM meeting where Captain Safdar had chanted slogans of ‘Respect the Vote’ at Mazar-e-Quaid, after which the federal ministers apologized to Maryam Nawaz for this move. What was demanded?

PTI leader Haleem Adil Sheikh had reached the police station to register a case on the matter but the case was registered at the request of a citizen.
